The CVMA’s Annual Meeting was held on December 10, 2025, at the Brookfield Zoo Discovery Center. Executive Director, Michele Cohen, called the meeting to order, followed by a financial report from President-Elect Dr. Kelly Cairns. Dr. Marina Jaworsky presented the candidate slate and oversaw elections, recognized the 2026 Lifetime Members, and announced the 2025 Award Recipients. The meeting concluded with the installation of the incoming president and the acceptance remarks from Dr. Kelly Cairns, who will serve as the 2026 President, before the session was formally adjourned.

President’s Service Award Presented to Dr. J.B. Bruederle
The President’s Service Award honors sustained and meaningful contributions to CVMA. This year’s recipient, Dr. J.B. Bruederle, founded Burnham Park Animal Hospital, served on the CVMA Board, and has led the PE Committee’s White Sox Dog Days participation for 25 years. Congratulations, Dr. Bruederle.

Lifetime Service Award Presented to Dr. Rae Ann Van Pelt
The Lifetime Service Award recognizes long-standing, impactful service advancing the mission and goals of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. This year’s recipient, Dr. Rae Ann Van Pelt, exemplifies excellence through her leadership in modern veterinary medicine, emergency care, and specialty practice. Congratulations, Dr. Van Pelt.
