Well summer is well underway, I hope you are getting out and about to enjoy the long warm days with your family and friends.
On to business. I am pleased to announce that we have hired a new Executive Director. Michele Cohen joined our team and hit the floor running. Since she started Michele and Marcy have revamped our webpage, so be sure to take a look at the improvements. She has met with several professionals and is currently collating a list of needed resources and discounted services for our members. We have toured 2 facilities in anticipation of our 130th Anniversary party in 2026. We are also gathering the information to begin offering alternative Continuing Education programs. We are in for an exciting year with a driven, energetic ED. She will be attending our July CE meeting, so be sure to take a moment and welcome her to our organization if you are in attendance.
In closing, I asked Michele to introduce herself to you, so without further ado. Here’s a brief Bio:
Michele Cohen is the new Executive Director of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA). Cohen’s passion lies in connecting and translating strategic vision to align an organization and its parts for success. Throughout her career, she has sought opportunities to learn about how organizations build strength and to apply her practical experience and background to reach success. “I am honored to have been selected as the Executive Director of CVMA. I will serve by working in alignment with the Board of Directors to reach strategic goals; increase opportunities; ensure high-quality knowledge and programming; promote awareness and advocacy; and position for the future.”
Prior to her role as Executive Director of CVMA, Cohen was an Executive Director and consultant working with non-profit organizations to reach their missions. She was the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice President of a trade organization affiliated with the National Association of REALTORS. With her guidance, associations experienced tremendous growth and strength. Cohen increased awareness and relevancy of organizations. She developed membership benefits and best-in-class education programming while participating in government affairs advocacy at local, state, and federal levels.
Cohen has a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree with honors from Ohio State University. She earned the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) certification.
