CVMA PUBLIC EDUCATION COMMITTEE

Educate and engage the public regarding the efforts and mission of the CVMA and the veterinary profession.

The Public Education Committee is dedicated to fostering a deeper public understanding of the vital role that veterinarians play in safeguarding animal health, advancing public health, and enhancing the well-being of communities. Through a combination of educational initiatives, media outreach, and strategic partnerships, the committee works to highlight the diverse contributions of veterinary professionals.

By engaging with the public, schools, policymakers, and media outlets, we aim to dispel misconceptions, promote science-based animal care, and inspire future generations to consider careers in veterinary medicine. Our efforts ensure that the value of veterinary expertise is widely recognized, respected, and integrated into discussions around public health, environmental protection, and emergency preparedness.

The Public Education Committee participates in the Kovler Hawkins Career Fair at UChicago, Tails on the Trails at Morton Arboretum, and White Sox Dog Days. Planning is underway for our 2026 events. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements.

Have an idea for a Public Education event? We’d love to hear from you. Share upcoming opportunities like high school career days, or chances to speak with younger students about caring for animals and careers in the animal care field. Send your event ideas to kmarshall@cvma.org and help us connect, inspire, and educate our community.
