Dear Members:
It is an honor and privilege to serve as your CVMA Board President in 2025. I look forward to the exciting year ahead as we reshape our organization and hire a new Executive Director to guide us through our goals to reach our objectives.
As a 1997 University of Illinois graduate, I joined the CVMA in 1995 as a sophomore. For the last 28 years I have worked as an Associate Veterinarian, Relief Doctor, and Medical Director in private and corporate practices across the Chicagoland area. In 2012, I founded the Bronzeville Animal Clinic where I currently practice.
In all of these roles, one thing is clear to me that Veterinarians, regardless of if we work in a single or multi doctor practice, in private or corporate setting we are united in our goal to provide exceptional, affordable medical, surgical, and holistic care to our patients. We want to provide these services in a clean caring environment with certified technicians and empathetic support staff. And we must maintain a work life balance through it all.
During my term, our focus will be membership engagement. So, I ask you, in this new environment, this New Year, how can CVMA support your needs? Is it social events with your peers, mindfulness/self-help workshops, online CE, staff recruitment assistance, financial guidance? You tell us, as I am listening.
We need to hear from you, so our direction is centered, focused, and our goals are achieved. We want to be a benefit to your career and our esteemed profession. Look out for our future communications, as I will rely on your input as we make these changes. This year, I encourage you to enhance your involvement with our Association, as together we will advocate and support collectively.
Again, I thank you for this opportunity to serve.
Sincerely,
Sophia H. Gill, DVM
Board President
