The Chicago Veterinary Medical Association is one of the largest regional veterinary association in the nation with nearly 1000 veterinarians and 4000 support staff who lovingly assist more than one million Chicago area pets and their families. As undisputed authorities in matters pertaining to animals, we would like to express our concerns and visions on local animal legislation.
Itchy Pets are Miserable Pets!
It’s a common occurrence…pet owners expressing feelings of frustration, helplessness and even despair from a single symptom. Although this may not seem like a big deal, these owners suffer through sleepless nights as their pets scratch and chew and lick, all in an attempt to get some needed relief. Lyme Disease Prevalence in Chicago and Suburbs

A tick-free dog is a healthy dog.
Each year, thousands of dogs contract Lyme Disease and other vector-borne diseases. With their furry coats, proximity to the ground and love of exploration, dogs are 51-100 times more likely than humans to come in contact with disease-carrying ticks.
