Dr. Ana Valbuena

Dr. Ana Valbuena (she/her/ella), DVM, is a veterinarian at the Medical District Veterinary Clinic, the Chicago satellite clinic for the University of Illinois, where she provides comprehensive clinical care while also serving as a leader in community engagement and diversity initiatives. Born in Cuba and raised in Nicaragua, she brings a bilingual and multicultural perspective to her work, with a strong commitment to improving access to veterinary care and representation within the profession. 

Dr. Valbuena spearheads outreach programs connecting underserved Chicago communities with veterinary resources, mentorship opportunities, and educational pathways to the field. She also teaches veterinary students and leads initiatives focused on building trust in science and medicine through culturally responsive care. 

She is passionate about uplifting future veterinary professionals, expanding community partnerships, and strengthening the role of the veterinary profession within Chicago.
