Topic:
Feeling Good: The Best Perioperative Care
We all want our patients to be calm, comfortable and to recover well after surgery. An individualized approach to each patient will keep the pain and stress of surgery and hospitalization as low as possible. Using case-based premedication, anesthesia and postoperative care presentations, Dr. Karas will illustrate perioperative analgesia theories, indications and timing, and how to ensure a smooth and safe surgical recovery. She uses video clips to help differentiate pain from anxiety and dysphoria. New evidence-based techniques for treating acute pain as well as non-pharmacological treatment of pain will also be discussed. And that all important factor – communication with nursing staff and clients, will also be featured.
